Greetings, Community Partner
We seek your support in overturning Ordinance No. 182986, the Citywide Exclusive Franchise System for Municipal Solid Waste Collection and Handling Program, and Exclusive Franchise Commercial and Multifamily Solid Waste Collection and Handling System. The ordinance took effect May of 2014, and the City is now issuing approval; No more than 11 haulers will receive permits.
Our Committee is reaching out to trash haulers, business industry groups, apartment associations, faith based organizations and concerned citizens. We’ve met with citizens that debated this policy with City officials for years before it passed; and spoke with small haulers fearful of losing their businesses as well as City tactics. However, none of our colleagues want to let this City-instituted monopoly stand unchallenged and therefore, let this be our call to action.
We want to work with you because our experience and strategic relationships make The Committee for Accountability & Good Government in Los Angeles poised to manage this campaign, take legal action if needed, and run day-to-day community advocacy, outreach and education.
We need to raise $640,000.00 to get a voter initiative on the ballot. This budget pays for the signature gathering campaign, which includes expenses such as legal support, petition printing, signature verification, professional signature-gathering teams, campaign management, office supplies and temporary office space. Once on the ballot any and all funds will be used to pay for the election campaign.
Our petition is approved! We have 120 days to gather nearly 62,000 legally qualified signatures. We encourage you to take an active role in this campaign by donating. You can contribute here on the website or via mail. Please send your check made payable to:

I thank you in advance for your support and look forward to speaking with you soon.
